The Garden

“I have put the garden inside of you, and the Holy Spirit is the fruit that it produces.”

The Lord spoke this to me during my prayer time one day. I was just sitting in His presence. Not speaking. Then I had a vision of a garden (more of a quick glimpse really before it passed). I knew in my heart that it was a vision of the Garden of Eden or at least a representation of it. Immediately the Lord spoke to me and said, “I have put the garden inside of you, and the Holy Spirit is the fruit that it produces.” I just sat there and began to think on His words and it was if all the pieces began to fall into place.

When we are alive to Christ, Christ lives in us (Gal 2:20). And He sent Holy Spirit to dwell in us and with us on this earth until Jesus comes again. The original intent of the Father was to live and dwell with us in the garden of Eden. That didn’t last. Now, God has taken that place and so beautifully placed it on the inside of us by the regeneration of our spirit and the infilling of the Holy Spirit through Christ. And His Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). Now we walk with God in a new garden. One that He has planted on the inside of us when our spirits are born again. Now we fellowship with God on the inside. Now God reveals Himself and His ways to us on the inside. Our relationship with Him begins with an inward spirit resurrection and forms an outward expression of worship to Him.

There is a garden on the inside of us. And not only has God planted this beautiful place on the inside of us, but this garden produces fruit. This fruit is evidenced by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self control. Against such things, there is no law.” Galations 5:22-23. 

You see, when we walk with the Lord, when we allow Him to teach us His ways and show us His wonders, our garden flourishes. When we pray, when we worship, when we study and cherish His Word, when we put it to practice in our lives, our garden becomes a dwelling place abundant in beauty and life. Where the soil is rich with nutrients and God alone being the source of all life within. The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” Isaiah 58:11

When our garden is thriving and producing fruit, this is what will be outwardly expressed through us. It will not be hidden from the world. Instead, the world will see its beauty and taste its fruit and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8)! Your garden will become your testimony. This is the purpose of this blog. This is why I so named it “The Garden”. The Garden Blog is the record of my walk with the Lord. What He is saying. What He is doing. What He is planting, and what He is growing. I want that to be captured, and I pray the seeds from my fruit will fall on your heart and be planted in the garden of your soul. 

It is not my desire to say the next profound thing or have the next greatest revelation that will change the world. I am nothing more than a vessel of the Lord. I am His and He is mine. His voice is worth recording. His words are worth remembering. I pray you are encouraged in your faith as your read this blog, and that you would learn to listen intently to the Lord and write down what He is saying and revealing to you. 

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19
